Hope Oncology Group is comprised of professionals from all areas of health related to cancer treatment. However, it was four surgical oncologists who, with a philanthropic vision, medical passion and vocation of service, gave life to this project. Learn more about them.
Dr. Josías Juantá Castro

He is currently the coordinator of Head and Neck Surgery at the San Juan de Dios hospital and a collaborator in different social security centers. His interest is in the cases of large resections and immediate reconstruction of different anatomical areas, such as the head and neck, skin and soft tissues.
Oncologist surgeon with postdoctoral training in head and neck surgery. Specialized in Mohs surgery (skin cancer) and microsurgical reconstruction. He is the most experienced active surgeon with the highest number of cases in the country, using this new technique in patients with large tumors. Thus achieving a satisfactory functional and aesthetic result and fully complying with oncological principles.
It has innovated the treatment of cancer with minimally invasive techniques, such as the resection of the thyroid gland by oral access, thus achieving the removal of the thyroid without leaving a scar.
In addition to his professional practice, he dedicates a large part of his time to academic activity, inside and outside the country. He holds conferences outside the country, within the framework of the most recognized medical congresses related to the current management of head and neck cancer, new technologies and treatments.
He is the founder of the Costa Rican Head and Neck Association, of which he is president. He was also president and vice president of the Latin American Federation of Head and Neck Societies, in addition to being part of the working board of the International Federation of Head and Neck Societies. He is a tenured professor at the University of Costa Rica in undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Writer of medical articles and contributor to chapters of medical literature.

Dr. Eduardo Sáenz Corrales
Dr. Eduardo Saenz Corrales is a general surgeon, surgical oncologist and hepatobiliary surgeon with expertise in the surgical management of hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal pathology, as well as soft tissue tumors.
He is a general surgeon and oncologist, with postdoctoral training in surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder, stomach and intestines. He masters advanced open and laparoscopic techniques. He specializes in the use of intraoperative ultrasound in gastrointestinal surgery. He also specializes in tumor surgeries on the trunk and extremities.

Dr. Yerald Peraza Solís
He is a general surgeon and oncologist with a special interest in the field of digestive surgery. He specializes in endoscopic surgical techniques. He also specializes in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and trans anal endoscopic microsurgery. He is an undergraduate and graduate professor at the University of Costa Rica, and a collaborator and advisor for the treatment of cancer in Costa Rica.
